Welcome!
Annually each Spring, the School of Film offers a course in Portfolio and Professional Development which prepares graduating film production students for the job search.
The experience culminates in a portfolio show where students present their work and themselves as emerging professionals to the school community, alumni, peers, friends, family, and to established media professionals.
We hope you will enjoy this year's online edition of the show!
Each year the School of Film gives awards to the best film essays submitted for consideration. The judges are PSU film faculty and any paper written in a film class over the previous year is eligible. This year we awarded prizes in two categories: Best Historical Research Paper and Best Film Analysis Essay.
School of Film faculty select a set of student-produced work to showcase each year. This year, all selections were curated from projects made since Spring 2019 in film production classes.
Distinctions are awarded to the best film in each of the following genres: Experimental, Documentary, and Fiction.
The video essay form calls upon students to bring their production and analytic skills together to create a compelling visual argument.
The selection included here comes from the new special topics course, The Video Essay, where students were asked to write a strong analysis of a film and then transform the paper into a video essay.
